Maharaja Sansar Chandra Museum Kangra Himachal

This museum adjoins the Kangra fort. The royal family of Kangra dedicated this museum to Maharaja Sansar Chandra. His period of rule was known as the ‘Golden age of Kangra’. He was only 10 years of age when he first inherited the throne of Kangra. By the age of 21 he had captured the fort and defeated the Mughals.

It was during his period that the ‘arts’ developed. Paintings built during ‘Pahadi Badshah’s’ time are on display in the museum even today.

Also displayed inside the museum are armors of different types and times.

The museum also has a separate enclosure as an ‘art gallery’. Also inside is Maharani’s bedroom which is one section of the museum you find yourself drawn to because of its beautiful setting and silver furniture.

Facilities such as audio guides, cafeteria, gift gallery make the experience visiting this museum easy, comfortable and fun.
